Schut Fine Art Paper

Papierfabriek Schut has been making fine art paper since the “Golden Century” of Dutch masters. Its “De Veentjes” mill was founded in 1618.

Making high-quality watercolor paper is a craft where a traditional mill excels, processing raw materials in the old-fashioned way. Our hybrid-fourdrinier works at a measured pace and rotates much slower than standard paper-making machines. Our machine has a very long bed for natural dewatering and uses the old way of “register rolls” which slows the process, but results in a better, more uniform product. We also use a proprietary orientation system, so that the fibers align perfectly in the finished paper.
